35 Questions .........?

A recent Forbes article dated 17 September 2013 entitled “35 Questions That Will Change Your Life by Jason Nazar”, however of all the questions the following stood out for me and I decide to talk on the topic. 1.        What are your values and are you being true to them? Write down the 3 most important aspects of each of these areas: family, romantic relationships, friends, work, health, sex and spirituality.   These are your values.   When we don’t act congruently with what we value, symptoms of discomfort arise. Family My family is a pretty large one as my dad was a bit of a rolling stone. So it is a great possible there are relatives out there I may have never met before. The only time either side of my family gets together is for a wedding or a funeral. I grow up with my mom and two sisters of which I am the oldest of the three kids. I have always tried to be the best example for them. I believe family is a very important part of any individual and wish mine was much

The English Problem

From as  far back as can remember I have always had an issue with the English language. I was never the one to sit down and read a novel, I would rather watch the movie. Or to write a really long paragraph or even a book about any subject. But I have decided I need to make more of an effort and start reading and writing more as well as just to simply slow down.... As a lecture from Stanford University ,Kristin Sainani, says" Good writing can be learned" and " revision is more important that the first draft". So I have asked my co worker for novels so I can get start working on my reading skills. Next is the writing skills, so you will be see a lot more postings from me about every and anything..

National Rum Day?

This might not be a surprise to some as it was to me to find out there is a National Rum Day. It is celebrated on August 16th annually. Rum was discovered in the early 1600s on the sugarcane plantations of the Caribbean islands. Very soon it gathered popularity and became a huge hit among the pirates. The American colonials and the Navy men made it their signature drink. The first distillery to brew rum was set up on Staten Island in 1664. Modern day rum is made by distilling molasses and sugarcane byproducts. Rum is classified as a strong alcoholic beverage. Jamaica is known world worldwide for Appleton Rum manufactured by Appleton Estate since 1749. They age their rum for 12 years, 21 Years and 30 years. Rum is used in drinks and dishes to give them a spook. Who can imagine Granny’s Christmas cake without the rum and not to mention the sorrel. Here are a few cocktails you might want to try to celebrate. Mercury Rising Ingredients: 2 cups Appleton Estate Reserve .75 cu

Powerful Thoughts

The following thought are some powerful thoughts that I have seen and love and had to share: “Define success on your own terms, achieve it by your own rules, and build a life you’re proud to live.” – Anne Sweeney (President of Walt Disney) “Whatever you want in life, other people are going to want it too. Believe in yourself enough to accept the idea that you have an equal right to it.” – Diane Sawyer  "Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people." - Eleanor Roosevelt “Listen--are you breathing just a little, and calling it a life?”  ― Mary Oliver Its is Truth and Truth alone, that is one's real friend, relative.- Sai Baba “Other people's opinion of you does not have to become your reality.”  ―  Les Brown To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you. ~ Lewis B. Smedes

17EX

The 17EX which travels the route of Greater Portmore to Cross Road in Kingston, Jamaica is on trip I anticipate and count on each day. The driver Mr. Mateland with his very welcoming smile beaming as you approach ( Hope I got the spelling right :-) ).  His professionalism and driving skills are one to be admired but when he takes the microphone to welcome the passengers to the 17Ex  followed by his scripture of the day is a great start for a new day. Then the music played for the rest of the journey got me singing all day. Keep of the great job!!!!

Summer is here!!!

Today is marked around the world as the first day of Summer. Summer according to Wikipedia is the warmest of the four temperate seasons, between spring and autumn. At the summer solstice, the days are longest and the nights are shortest, with day-length decreasing as the season progresses after the solstice. The date of the beginning of summer varies according to climate, culture, and tradition, but when it is summer in the Northern Hemisphere it is winter in the Southern Hemisphere, and vice versa. However with the mention of summer all of the below starts popping in my head: 1. Beach 2. Barbeques 3. Sun 4. Friends & Family 5. No school 6. Vacation 7. Pools 8. Parties 9. River 10. Ice cream 11. Snow Cones 12. Picnic 13. Sailing 14. Water parties 15. Drinking ( although not a fan) 16. Road Trip 17. Jerk Festival 18. Sumfest 19. Summer Camp So whatever summer brings for you be safe while enjoying the sun.

No clothes

When Adam and Eve noticed they were nude they chose to make clothing from the plants around them as they were ashamed of their nudity. Growing up I never saw my mom exposing herself to the elements of nature and for the viewing pleasure of every and everyone. So I beg to wonder have, the women of my society today "shame tree died". When have we become so shameless that we are willing to walk the streets in little to nothing. Women, we needed to let men blood boil within their veins and yet still be a lady. Remember the streets aren't your bedrooms. Yet these women who parade themselves this way wonder why they cannot find a husband. Most men even if they don't want to admit to it "want a lady in the streets and freak in his bed". Yes, he will be eyeing you in the club and rubbing up against you, but admit it all that is go through his mind is will I get to hit this tonight. Have you ever wondered why a man would date a girl who "wears no clothes"

Public Support for Smoking Ban

Image
In an article of today's Jamaica Observer entails "Minister seeks public support for smoking ban"  the Health Minister Fenton Ferguson has called for public support and understanding as he moves to institute a ban on smoking in public spaces. This I am in full support of as studies have should the major effects of second smoking on the body. Here are these individuals who have decieded to shorten their life span and to get me invole in their death wish. According to the latest WHO data published in April 2011 Lung Cancers Deaths in Jamaica reached 392 or 2.17% of total deaths. The age adjusted Death Rate is 16.17 per 100,000 of population ranks Jamaica #78 in the world. So if there is one thing we can do to reduce this staticis I am all for it!!!! Can I get to know YOU?

I miss the old days when guys would actually "want" to date you before wanting to jump into bed with you. How can you just meet someone and all you want to do in get into their pants? You don't know anything about this person or what you are getting your self into. With all that is happening in today's society. And dating doesn't mean us just talking via skype, Facebook, Whatsapp, BBM, Twitter or any other society media. We need to hang out physically not virtually so we can really connect. And please don't let the first thing out of your mouth be something about sex. That we come afterwards based on my impression of you and how we connect. So lets just slow down and get to really know each other .........

Office Romance

Office Romance This is a very strong topic that will have persons who are opposed and  argue that romantic attachments disturb the equilibrium of the workplace, interfere with professionalism, and unnecessarily confuse work and pleasure. While other will this see it as love can be found any and everywhere. I have always been of the strong belief that I cannot get into a relationship with a coworker, and you know what kind of relationship I am talking about. I see it happens over and over again. And I wonder how can you separate your love or sexual attracts for this person see them basically 24/7. Wouldn't your blood be boiling inside and your heart drumming every beat each time they walk by and give you that smile that makes you melt. I have met many guys through my place of work that I have really had the hots for. But the thought of a relationship affecting my work environment is a strong factor. I am sorry but I do flirt a little and after I am human. But that is it........

Mother Earth

Blessed Mother Earth today is your day Continue to shine as beautiful as you do As I will forever do my part to protect you There are times I wish I could wrap you up in a blanket so tight To prevent you from all the negative vibes of pollution I can see in cutting through your skin and there is little I can do I wish, there was so much more I can do Mother Earth, with all the headache we have given you you still provide for us giving us food, shelter, water, warmth and fresh air to fill up our lung Mother Earth, you beauty and mysteries have the world in amazement and will for many years , centuries to come You alone can do what you do, no matter how they try to duplicate and replicate They cannot do it like you Mother Earth, I pray to God that you will stay stronger For my generation and my children's generation So my brothers and sister just try and do you part to protect Mother Earth....... Happy Earth Day, Mother Earth!!!!!

Kids, to have or to not

For as long as I can recall have always said I never wanted to have any kids. I have been looked at as being strange/crazy for thinking this way or even much more saying it out loud. And no, I am not barren. As that seems to be the first thought of many I have had a discussion with regarding my belief or saying. Or she doesn't want to lost that sexy shape of hers and other strange one “your man must be shooting blanks". Doesn't a woman have the choice to choose whether or not she wants to bear a child. I keep seeing what is happening in society how it has failed to protect the innocence of a child. So why would I want to bring my flesh and blood into such a world. My heart aches to see children not get the proper nutrition and care they should. If I am unable to take care of myself at this time then how will I be able to care for a child or I'm I the only one we thinks this way? Having a child involves so much you have to provide the children with mental, physi
