35 Questions .........?

A recent Forbes article dated 17 September 2013 entitled “35 Questions That Will Change Your Life by Jason Nazar”, however of all the questions the following stood out for me and I decide to talk on the topic. 1.        What are your values and are you being true to them? Write down the 3 most important aspects of each of these areas: family, romantic relationships, friends, work, health, sex and spirituality.   These are your values.   When we don’t act congruently with what we value, symptoms of discomfort arise. Family My family is a pretty large one as my dad was a bit of a rolling stone. So it is a great possible there are relatives out there I may have never met before. The only time either side of my family gets together is for a wedding or a funeral. I grow up with my mom and two sisters of which I am the oldest of the three kids. I have always tried to be the best example for them. I believe family is a very important part of...

The English Problem

From as  far back as can remember I have always had an issue with the English language. I was never the one to sit down and read a novel, I would rather watch the movie. Or to write a really long paragraph or even a book about any subject. But I have decided I need to make more of an effort and start reading and writing more as well as just to simply slow down.... As a lecture from Stanford University ,Kristin Sainani, says" Good writing can be learned" and " revision is more important that the first draft". So I have asked my co worker for novels so I can get start working on my reading skills. Next is the writing skills, so you will be see a lot more postings from me about every and anything..

National Rum Day?

This might not be a surprise to some as it was to me to find out there is a National Rum Day. It is celebrated on August 16th annually. Rum was discovered in the early 1600s on the sugarcane plantations of the Caribbean islands. Very soon it gathered popularity and became a huge hit among the pirates. The American colonials and the Navy men made it their signature drink. The first distillery to brew rum was set up on Staten Island in 1664. Modern day rum is made by distilling molasses and sugarcane byproducts. Rum is classified as a strong alcoholic beverage. Jamaica is known world worldwide for Appleton Rum manufactured by Appleton Estate since 1749. They age their rum for 12 years, 21 Years and 30 years. Rum is used in drinks and dishes to give them a spook. Who can imagine Granny’s Christmas cake without the rum and not to mention the sorrel. Here are a few cocktails you might want to try to celebrate. Mercury Rising Ingredients: 2 cups Appleton Estate Reserve .75 cu...

Powerful Thoughts

The following thought are some powerful thoughts that I have seen and love and had to share: “Define success on your own terms, achieve it by your own rules, and build a life you’re proud to live.” – Anne Sweeney (President of Walt Disney) “Whatever you want in life, other people are going to want it too. Believe in yourself enough to accept the idea that you have an equal right to it.” – Diane Sawyer  "Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people." - Eleanor Roosevelt “Listen--are you breathing just a little, and calling it a life?”  ― Mary Oliver Its is Truth and Truth alone, that is one's real friend, relative.- Sai Baba “Other people's opinion of you does not have to become your reality.”  ―  Les Brown To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you. ~ Lewis B. Smedes

17EX

The 17EX which travels the route of Greater Portmore to Cross Road in Kingston, Jamaica is on trip I anticipate and count on each day. The driver Mr. Mateland with his very welcoming smile beaming as you approach ( Hope I got the spelling right :-) ).  His professionalism and driving skills are one to be admired but when he takes the microphone to welcome the passengers to the 17Ex  followed by his scripture of the day is a great start for a new day. Then the music played for the rest of the journey got me singing all day. Keep of the great job!!!!

Summer is here!!!

Today is marked around the world as the first day of Summer. Summer according to Wikipedia is the warmest of the four temperate seasons, between spring and autumn. At the summer solstice, the days are longest and the nights are shortest, with day-length decreasing as the season progresses after the solstice. The date of the beginning of summer varies according to climate, culture, and tradition, but when it is summer in the Northern Hemisphere it is winter in the Southern Hemisphere, and vice versa. However with the mention of summer all of the below starts popping in my head: 1. Beach 2. Barbeques 3. Sun 4. Friends & Family 5. No school 6. Vacation 7. Pools 8. Parties 9. River 10. Ice cream 11. Snow Cones 12. Picnic 13. Sailing 14. Water parties 15. Drinking ( although not a fan) 16. Road Trip 17. Jerk Festival 18. Sumfest 19. Summer Camp So whatever summer brings for you be safe while enjoying the sun.
